ISC Promotes Improved Occupational and Environmental Health in China

On October 28, 2010, ISC's Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Academy, in partnership with the Guangdong Prevention and Treatment Center for Occupational Disease, the Guangdong Testing Center for Occupational Hygiene, and the Guangdong Poison Control Center, conducted a full-day workshop on occupational health and risk management for 350 participants from over 200 Chinese and multinational companies. This workshop is part of a series of courses aimed at improving workers' health as well as environmental conditions in Chinese manufacturing facilities. The workshop also focused on international best practices in managing risks associated with exposure to environmental contaminants and other hazards in the workplace. Trainees were acquire the technical skills needed to improve environmental management systems, to put procedures in place to correctly identify, measure, and reduce exposure to toxic substances, and to monitor and decrease negative environmental health impacts that results from production processes.
