Guangdong Partnership for Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings Launched in Guangdong

Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) and British Consulate-General Guangzhou (BCG) officially kicked off a project to improve energy efficiency public buildings in Guangdong province at the end of 2011. A signing ceremony was held in Guangzhou on December 1, 2011, ISC's partner on this project-Guangdong Economic and Information Committee (GEIC) and Guangdong Institute of Energy Conservation (GIEC) present and celebrate the launch of the project.
This Guangdong Partnership for Energy Efficiency Public Buildings project aims to help improve energy savings in public sector buildings with market-based methods and develop a model that is workable and replicable for improving energy efficiency of public sector buildings all across China.
Sponsored by British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the Guangdong Partnership for Energy Efficiency Public Buildings project is advised by GEIC, and implemented by ISC and GIEC. Through a 15 months process, ISC and its partners will:
- Organize workshops and trainings to various stakeholders on public building energy efficiency through energy performance contracting means;
- Provide opportunity of peer learning through national and international study tours;
- Select several pilot buildings to showcase how to do public building retrofitting through Energy Performance Contracting (EPC);
- Develop a guidebook on public buildings energy efficiency through EPC.
